The goals of the proficiency program:
- To help members learn and recognize, in a tangible way, the skills they have acquired through their 4-H livestock project.
- To place greater emphasis on the educational/knowledge aspects of a livestock program as opposed to a short term project consisting of buying, showing, and selling at the fair.
- To guide leaders through the project year with infomation and resources to teach for the project subject.
